Right from the mid-thirties, NetturP was active in the independence movement. During the struggle, during his incarceration at Bellary Jail for two years, during his tenure in Parliament, and during the subsequent period, he had the opportunity come in close contact with numerous national leaders and to develop good personal rapport with them. This closeness continued throughout his life.
